Mughli Indian Restaurant and Charcoal Grill Manchester Review

Nestled in the heart of the Curry Mile in Rusholme, the Mughli Indian Restaurant and Charcoal Grill is a perfect example of how an Indian restaurant should be… restaurants take note!

The food, the ambience and the service were all fantastic and many thanks to our server Hassan who’s recommendations meant our taste buds were certainly tantalised with foods with we not necessarily have tried.

Mughli

The children’s menu offered a good selection of curries for the younger palate alongside English dishes. I am fortunate that Mini Me does enjoy a good curry so that was always an easy choice for us.

Mughli

What we ate:

We were treated to Poppadums and colourful Mumbai Snacks to start.

Mughli

Lamb Kati Roll (£6.00) – Spice minced lamb kebab basted in a sweet chilli sauce and wrapped in a roti stripe and cooked on the chargrill. Oh My Days! This was absolutely amazing! I could quite happily have eaten several of these, Mini Me too – she loved it! A definite must try!

Mughli

Meat Samosa (£4.50) – With spiced potato wrapped in a crisp golden pastry. Packed to the brim, the crispiness of the outer coating was sublime and the sauce that accompanied the samosa was the right side of spicy!

Mughli

Lamb Chops (£7.50) – 3 x Lamb Chops cooked on the chargrill with a blend of spices and black pepper. The chops were so tender and easy to cut and a definite favourite!

Mughli

Lamb Saag (£9) – A Punjabi classic with lamb {on the bone}, chicken or paneer in a spinach based sauce & green herbs. This is my all time favourite curry! I attempt to trick myself into thinking that it is healthy due to all the spinach – I normally find that a Saag to be quite oily, however this was not at all!

Mughli

My First Curry (£6.50) – Chicken breast or Paneer Cheese in a mild butter and cream sauce, served with steamed sweetcorn rice. I wasn’t too sure if Mini Me would enjoy the sweetcorn rice, as she is a fan of pilau rice we were able to swap with no problem at all.

Mughli

Aubergine Mash (£4.50) – Smokey spiced, oven-roasted aubergine ‘bharta’ – this was amazing, to the point we had to take what was left away with us – a fantastic recommendation!

I would seriously recommend trying as many starters as possible before choosing your main meal! The menu is rather extensive and with so many yummy starters to choose from, it would be rude not to try them all!

Watching the cooks prepare food on the chargrill was simply mesmerising and I do like watching my food being cooked in front of me. Everything was fresh, beautifully presented and I did not find the food oily in the slightest, it truly was cooked to perfection. I do love a good curry takeaway however there is nothing quite like enjoying a meal in a restaurant and there is no denying we will certainly be returning to the Mughli.

Mughli

I found that no request was a problem at all, if a food item needed to be swapped or if we required a spoon, it was placed in front of us before we had even considered it. At a 5pm slot on a Saturday night the restaurant was probably half full, however as time ticked on I did notice that parties were waiting at the bar to be seated – so for that reason I would seriously recommend booking a table.

With other Mughli restaurants based in Knutsford and Birmingham, do not worry if you are not local to Rusholme! For more details on locations and menu options, check out www.mughli.com.

That food looks gorgeous! It looks so tasty – I’d be more than happy with half of that. You had a proper feast!
I love it when kids will eat grown up food, but sometimes they just aren’t that adventurous, so the kids menu is a great addition 🙂
