Heading down to the Trafford Centre, on a hot Summer’s day to shop for school uniform is enough to scare even the bravest parent, but thanks to M&S, they’ve made what should be a chore, a much easier and pleasant experience.
Located easily on the ground floor of the Trafford Centre in Manchester, the dedicated M&S School Uniform pop up shop has everything you need to ensure your child is fully kitted out for starting back at school in September.
It has been offering the chance for families to stock up on the school uniform essentials for the past 4 years and will be open until September so there is plenty of time to head down there! Though I will admit that perusing the store is much easier at the current time due to not having to deal with the back to school rush… bonus!
The store is filled with school uniform (for primary and secondary school children) in a range of sizes, colours and fittings – including slim, regular and plus fit. As part of their #LifeIsntUniform campaign, the lovely people at M&S have realised that not one person is the same and the extra sizing options are a great reassurance!
Liv, at the age of 9 years tends to wear age 12-13 years clothes due to her height and we are forever having to buy new trousers as she just will not stop growing – honestly, I do not put her in a grow bag at night!
The prices of the items are very reasonable for the quality of the uniforms, with the leather shoes being significantly cheaper than Clarks shoes!
With many multipacks available, buying a pack of two skirts or two summer dresses will ensure you are ready for the full school year ahead and even a crafting accident or two… mainly painting! Socks are even available with reinforced toes and heels to help protect little feet!
The staff in the shop are absolutely fantastic and very knowledgeable on the items of clothing. It’s well worth the trip to the Trafford Centre to ensure you buy clothes that fit comfortably and will stand the test of time. A huge thank you to Helen, James and Una who were absolutely fantastic and made our trip to the M&S School Uniform shop much easier than ever expected!
Clearly lots of thought has gone into the M&S School uniforms and it is very much appreciated – anything to keep children comfy when they are spending hours at school each day. The fact some items are non-iron, especially with pleated skirts is fantastic and means you get to enjoy more of life without crying each time you look at your ironing pile!
Here is Liv, kitted out in her new Ultimate Skirt (£12) which is stain and weatherproof, crease resistant and features permanent pleats! Her leather shoes are ‘super comfy’, with a ridiculously soft outer and Freshfeet technology for odourless shoes. School shoes can be hard to maintain, but the soft leather can easily be wiped clean. Whilst I am sure she would much prefer to wear her new uniform now, as she finishes school today all her new uniform is now hung up and ready for going back to school and I can relax knowing everything is ready!
Have you already started to stock up on school uniform? Leaving it to the last minute is never fun, but a trip to the M&S School Uniform shop will leave you feeling relaxed and totally ready for September!

Taking part in the #LifeIsntUniform campaign, I was gifted Liv’s new uniform for the purpose of this post, all words and thoughts are my own… besides Liv’s quote!
