A very lovely friend of mine treated me to a wonderful birthday surprise last week when she took me on a road trip to Haslingden to visit the Dearden Tea Rooms for an afternoon tea lunch. I had absolutely no idea where we were going until we arrived and after lusting over pictures on their Facebook page for years, it was about time I visited and not as Manchester Mummy, but as Sim!
Nestled away on the cobbled streets in the main Haslingden town, the Dearden Tea Rooms has a lovely retro, vintage vibe from the decor, menu, furniture and the crockery. It was all so decadent and nostalgic – especially with the fire crackling away behind us, I could happily have stayed there all day!
Friends have visited the tea rooms before and recommended it thoroughly and I can understand why. Whether it be a special treat or simply a nice lunch out, the menus feature so much more than afternoon tea. You can check out the main and children’s menu here.
My friend and I enjoyed the Prosecco Afternoon Tea, with a glass being brought to the table as soon as we arrived… what a way to start our sumptuous and rather calorific lunch… however calories don’t count when it is a birthday treat! 😉 I even rocked my new LOTD jumper on the day too!
So what did we have to eat?
Everything was so beautifully presented and I instantly fell in love with the teapot! The afternoon tea included fresh sandwiches on bread that literally melted in the mouth, a range of cakes (including my favourite lemon cake) and of course, the all important scones, jam and cream!
It is well worth checking out the Dearden Tea Rooms site here for more information on their upcoming special events such as Witchcraft and Wizardry Afternoon, Mad Hatters Tea Party and one for all the gin fans… a Gin Tasting Evening.
